Postpartum Chiropractic Adjustment

What is Postpartum or Postnatal Chiropractic Adjustment?

Women who have gone thru the labour process may have injuries in the perineal, pelvic or lower back region. In certain cases where surgery was performed during the delivery process, muscles and ligaments in the pelvic area are often injured. All these can result in instability, pain or other postpartum complications. Postpartum chiropractic care focuses on maintaining normal pelvic, back and neck function. Chiropractic adjustment can make sure the proper alignment of the pelvis and spine while postpartum corrective exercise can strengthen the perineal and pelvic muscles to prevent complications following labour process such as diastasis recti, leaks, sciatica, groin pain, back pain, numbness and tingling sensation.

New mums often carry or breastfeed their newborn with an incorrect posture which leads to aches and pains in the back, neck and shoulder areas. Proper postural advice will be given to prevent neck and back injuries of the mums while taking care of their baby.
